
About Neal
Neal’s practice focuses principally on lending and secured finance transactions in Western Canada. He has extensive experience representing and advising major corporate borrowers, as well as institutional and private lenders at all market levels. This includes Canadian chartered banks and credit unions, significant U.S. based financial institutions and foreign lenders in global financial centres.
Neal advises lenders and borrowers in relation to a full range of financial products, including syndicated and bilateral lending transactions, general credit facilities for working capital, acquisition financing, project and construction finance, together with day-to-day finance and corporate matters. He has developed standard lending documentation for both domestic and cross border lenders. With a specialty in cross border lending, Neal advises foreign lenders on legal risks and practical matters associated with a Canadian lending platform.
He has structured and negotiated credit facilities across a variety of market sectors including energy, real estate finance, mining, forestry, technology, aircraft/vessel and satellite, sports and entertainment, casino and gaming, restaurant and retail.
Neal also assists clients with business transactions, including commercial real estate purchase and sale, leasing and share and asset transactions.

Community Activities
Neal is proud to have dedicated time to providing pro bono legal services to organizations that champion mental health initiatives. His efforts have supported professional athletes, police departments, emergency services, primary care workers and other key organizations across the Province of British Columbia.
He is a former Canadian university tennis player, having represented York University for two Ontario University Association championships.
Neal is also the co-founder of the Canadian men’s soccer team for “Mundiavocat”, the world cup of soccer for lawyers, taking place every two years in Europe or Africa.
